Romain grew up in a family of passionate humanists that care deeply about the oceans. He then naturally became a sailor as well as a scientist in molecular biology. As the General Manager of the Tara Expeditions Foundation, he shares his optimism and his knowledge wherever they can have an impact. Tara is a French sailboat built in 1989 for scientific research and environmental protection. Europe and plastic are Tara’s new challenge. Just to give a few examples, from April 2016 to November 2018, the Tara Pacific Expedition enabled the analysis of the complete biodiversity of coral reefs – from the gene to the ecosystem – and to better understand their adaptation capability to environmental changes.
