Hortense created Fleurs d’ici after discovering that 9 out of 10 flowers were imported from developing countries, where they are grown by underpaid women who are massively exposed to pesticides, and then transported by plane, hence generating heavy carbon emissions.Through Fleurs d’Ici, her associate and her are looking to make the flower industry virtuous again: they created a collective of exclusive florists who only sell flowers from local floral farms, produced in season, and they guarantee their traceability by using blockchain technology.
